Why Weighing Your Wedding Invitations is so Important

Postage Weight.jpg

While planning a wedding, you are doing so many things for the first, and possibly only time. Making it a simultaneously wonderful and stressful time in your life. Have no fear, myself and your other vendors are here to make your big day, and the time leading up to it as stress-free as possible. We live and breathe the details, and are familiar with the nuances you might not have ever thought of, and therefore help to prevent any hiccups along the way.

Sure people think about place settings and programs, but one of the lesser considered details, but one that is oh-so-important is ensuring that you have proper postage for your wedding invitations. You have spent a lot of time and money picking them out, gathering addresses, and assembling them, so its important that they arrive in your guests’ mail boxes!

Every wedding invitation is different, but one thing is sure to be true, one regular ole’ Forever Stamp is not going to cut it. Wedding invitations are on a heavier stock of paper than your average greeting card, and have multiple enclosures, making them require additional postage. In addition to weight, the size of your envelope will cause your postage to increase. Square envelopes, and larger sized envelopes, no matter how thick the paper or how many enclosures will cause you need a higher than standard amount of postage.

To truly know how much postage you will need to mail your invitations, is to have one completed set in-hand and to take it to your post office and have them let you know how much postage is required. You can then purchase the amount of postage you need in the amount that they told you. Unfortunately this means two trips to the post office, but this is the best way to ensure your invitations get delivered.
